Light the candles, gather up the kids, turn on the Halloween songs and celebrate Halloween with your favorite Halloween party finger foods. And when you’re finished eating and singing get ready for some more fun with some Halloween party games for the kids.
Create small displays out of miniature pumpkins and gourds by arranging them in small baskets that you have lined with Halloween inspired fabric. To line your baskets, you could even use Halloween napkins purchased from the dollar store. You can also get cute small baskets at the dollar store as well.
A different game which seems to popular is the building a scarecrow game. This entails having numerous groups of children make their scarecrow using pillow cases, old clothes, newspapers, cardboards, tapes or adhesives, and markers. You will have to set up some old clothes for this one. The children will certainly enjoy making something that often see in television and books.
Although having some sort of control would be a great but also remember that this is a children’s party, an iron hand rule would be overdoing it. There are quite a number of party games that you can organize that would certainly grab the attention of your kids.
Last but definitely not least is halloween. I’ve been building my collection for years, but for starters you can get a simple halloween sounds CD and put it on repeat. Chains, howling, screams make the young ones shake in their boots. The old ones (including parents) find it amusing but neat. I like to throw in a mix of halloween songs like monster mash and of course what Halloween would be complete without a little Danny Elfman. If you’re not familiar with Mr Elfman’s work, he has done soundtracks for some of the scariest movies out there. Google him and see what comes back.
Halloween decorating does not need to be expensive, but if you want you can spend a fortune. People do everything from the most simple decoration (a pumpkin) to extravagant light shows and my favourite personal haunted houses and yards. You need to find something which matches your budget and commitment. Dollar stores have a lot of inexpensive Halloween decorations, my favourite from the dollar stores are the glow in the dark spiders and skeletons. I hang the skeletons on tree branches and they light up at night giving a spooky chill to the yard.
Frankenstein doesn’t want to be left out. Neither do the Ghostbusters! So let’s have a little of the Best Halloween Songs With a Monster, Ghouls, and Ghosts Theme.
